"My husband and I got married in June of this year. For months prior to the wedding, we talked about how we would adopt a kitten after we were married and more settled. We even had her name picked out already...we just had to find her! I happened to walk into the pet store in Cary one day and saw all the PAWS kitties. That's when I spotted her. "That's Harriet," I thought! Later that day, I brought my husband to pet store and we had a chance to meet her. That's when I found out she was from Hertford county. My mom grew up in Hertford county and we still go back occasionally to visit family. I felt like it was fate...this was the kitten we had been waiting for! We took Harriet home and she has settled in just fine. She is the perfect companion, never to far from where we are and loves to snuggle. She is sleeping beside me as I write this story! She was the perfect addition to our new family!
Thanks for everything, Tracey!"

Marvin
"Hey Tracey! We adopted Marvin back in December. He has TRULY come around and been such a blessing to our family! And he loves my daughter enough to let her dress him up!" - Joy.
And from Tracey - "Marvin was one of my shy foster cats. When he first came to me, it took weeks for him to let me touch him. What a heart-warming wonderful story. He now adores being cuddled and loved on. It is amazing what love, patience, persistence and gentleness can do. Thank you, Joy and family!"
Milo
"I first saw this special kitten in December 2009. I had gone to the shelter to volunteer with my Mom and actually helped name this cat family. His black heart- shaped nose really stood out and he was full of personality. At the time, I was not considering adoption as I already had a 13 year old Maine Coon mix at home. By February, Milo was the only one left unadopted out of his litter of three kittens and mom. He became very lonely and sick at the shelter. (Thanks to all the PAWS volunteers who cared for him!) After considering and fostering Milo on Facebook, I adopted him on February 14, 2010. This housekitty now lives by the Albemarle Sound in Columbia, NC, and can watch ducks waddle around the yard and crabbers go out in their boats. Of course, he loves visits and overnights with his “Grandmeow” in Ahoskie. He is the perfect “velcro” kitten! Whereever I go, he is not far behind. He plays with other family cats and any toy he is offered. Milo even fetches and returns toy mice to my hands. This wonderfully naughty cat has no fears. He loves to be in high places and chase bugs. He's always busy, but is also very lovable and sweet. I couldn’t have asked for a better Valentine kitten!" {Dare Allen, Columbia, NC}

Mango
"Here are the pics from Mango's first evening in his
new home. Right now we have left him home asleep on
our bed while we are out walking our dog Lucy
(wireless signal is better outside than in tonight--
modern technology for you...).
Mango is still doing very well. He seems to know he
is king of the household already! He took a snuggly
nap with me this evening and is just a dear cat. We
love him to pieces already. His life will be well
documented with photos and videos, I can assure you.
Thanks again, so very much, for adding this orange
stubby tailed fluffy happiness to our home after a
week of alot of sadness and tears. I still acutely
miss my old cat Max but am happy to offer another
previously unwanted cat a loving home. Bless you
Joanne!
Many thanks from all of us,"
