Noelle, now Eleanor
After many long weeks at the shelter, Noelle, on the left, becomes Eleanor, and joins special PAWS dog, Newbie, now Frank, in a joyful new life. Thank you, Lance, from all of us.
Trigger
News from Trigger's new adopters, Jan Blossom and Captain Brenda Holdener of the USS Wasp, who adopted Trigger at PAWS' first PetSmart adoption event:
"Hello!
I wanted to send you a quick update on Trigger. As you know he is an amazing dog, he is sweet and very eager to please. He is settling in well at his forever home. He loves his morning runs on the beach and now is able to not only stare at birds but chase them too! I tried to attach a video of his first day at the beach, but it is too big to send. He still is a little leery of the “waves” but is getting his feet wet on his third day. The big priority is to teach him not to drink salt water, we are sure he will learn this very quickly as he has learned everything else we have been working with him on for the last couple of days.
He went to a dog park on his first full day in Virginia . He was completely overwhelmed at the first dog park, and so were we. We loved the second dog park, fewer dogs and some very nice owners who helped make his entry into the park much less traumatic. He quickly became the activity director and facilitated laps around the park for all the dogs.
He does very well in the car, it is not his favorite place to be but we are sure he will love it once he realizes that we go fun places, not to a new home, every time we go on a ride. . He is just amazing, we are so lucky to have him.
Thank you for what you have done for Trigger and so many other dogs, they all deserve a good life."
Jan
Annie, now Maggie
Wes Huggins of Apex writes:
"Maggie is doing well, has acclimated herself to her surroundings, and is immediately loved by everyone she meets. She's simply a delight to have with and around me! As I write this, she's laying down right behind me in my office (which is where Shadow used to lay during the day). It's nice to have 'company' with me again. She's doing quite well on the leash, though she does want to get from point A to point B a little faster than me. However, she is smart as a tack and has learned so much in the 20 days or so since she came home with me. She wants to please and doesn't have a mean bone in her body which, by the way, has grown in the last 20 days as well."
Barney
Barney's new family writes, "Good Morning,
He is doing very well! It didn't take him long to get adjusted. We gave him a bath after I talked to you yesterday. Wow, that was interesting. He's a little harder to keep in the tub than a Yorkie! haha. It took both of us to keep him in there. He's such a sweet boy. He's been wondering with Jace and our little dog. Jace goes up and pets him and Barney will give him some kisses. It's pretty sweet.
Last night was pretty interesting to say the least! We put his big pillow in the crate and put him in there last night. He would cry and yelp and Rob would go in there and say, Barney NO, and he would stop. It only took 3 times and then he was fine. I just didn't want him to wake Jace up with his loud, deep bark! He didn't potty in the crate or anything. He started barking at 6:30 this morning so Rob took him out to potty. So he slept all night until 6:30.
He's in a loving and wonderful home!"
